Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, I am currently accepting youth (age 11 and up) and adults for individual therapy, and parents for parent coaching. I have both morning and afternoon appointments available, Monday through Thursday. I always keep my website updated with my availability.
-
My practice is 100% telehealth - I meet with clients across Washington state via Google Meet video chat. I don’t currently offer any in person appointments.
-
Visit my Contact page and send a brief message about what you’re looking for and your availability. From there, I will offer some times for an intake appointment and let you know about next steps like completing paperwork.
-
No, I don’t offer free consults. I’ve found that free consultations don’t provide enough time for us to get to know each other, and they make it take longer for clients to start getting help. I’ve provided lots of information about myself, my approach, and my services here to help you decide if you’d like to make an appointment. I’m happy to answer any other questions you have via email.
-
No, I am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide you with a receipt for reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. Please see my Fees page for more information.

I see most clients weekly for 45-60 minutes to start. Once you’ve made enough progress on your goals, we can switch to every other week if you’d like.
Most clients stay in therapy for at least 6 months. For brief therapy focused on a specific issue, we might only meet for 2-3 months. Many clients stay in therapy for a year or more. I will let you know if I think you’re ready to see me less frequently or stop therapy. You are always welcome to stop therapy at any time.
-
I understand that you might not be able to afford to pay for therapy out of pocket every week. That being said, the frequency of sessions should be based on your mental health needs, not your budget.
Please contact me and let me know more about your situation. I can let you know whether I think biweekly therapy will work for you. If not, I’m happy to refer you to another therapist who either takes your insurance or provides a sliding scale, so you can get the care you need.
For Parents
-
Contact me and let me know what kind of support you’re looking for. From there, we will schedule an intake appointment where I meet with both you and your child. We will make a plan together for what therapy will look like for your child. Usually, I meet individually with a child/teen weekly or biweekly, and schedule additional parent or family meetings as needed.
-
Most of the time, I will only be able to share limited information about what your child talks about - but you will still be involved. During your first appointment, we’ll talk about what I can keep private and what I might need to disclose to parents (such as issues concerning safety). We will make a plan for how you can best support your child’s therapy while still giving them the privacy they need to feel comfortable opening up.
-
Maybe. It’s normal for kids to be nervous or unsure about therapy. It’s my job to help them feel comfortable and give them an idea of what to expect from therapy. I adapt my approach to each client’s individual needs and strengths - we can engage in games, art, and other activities to build trust and make it easier to explore the hard stuff.
At the same time, individual therapy won’t be effective if the client doesn’t participate. If a child/teen won’t engage during their sessions, I won’t force them. Instead, I can work with parents to make a plan to support their child in other ways, like parent coaching, family therapy, or connection to other providers/services. (Note that WA state law gives teens 13+ the right to consent to or refuse most mental health services.)
Please contact me and tell me a little more about your child and their needs, and together we can decide how to move forward.
-
I can provide coaching for parents of children ages 3 and up. Your child doesn’t have to be receiving individual therapy. Please see my Parent Coaching page for more information.
Currently, I only provide family therapy as an add-on to individual therapy - that is, your child/teen must be seeing me individually.
